BMW Isetta was popular in Europe after the Second World War, because this vehicle was cheap and easy-to-handle. The same thing may become acute for Europe again, because of $4-a-gallon gas price.
Tony Weichselbraun from the University of Applied Arts raised the possibility of revival of Isetta with a new name eSetta, what indicates that it has an electric motor. The eSetta would be part of a car sharing system where the little cars would be charged via induction stations where the eSetta could be borrowed and returned. For now, the eSetta is only a concept, but its familiar retro look and frugal philosophy could do well for short trips in a compact urban center.
