According to Honeywell, one of the major automotive suppliers for turbochargers around the world, the sales of turbocharged engines are increasingly growing. It is essential process, I think. As far as the prices for fuel are rising, automotive manufacturers have to decrease engine sizes, but save the power levels or even increase them. The forced induction is a ready solution.

Honeywell claims that turbocharged passenger vehicles accounted for 25 percent of the global market, for a total of 20 million vehicles. By 2017, says the report, the number will swell to 36 million new vehicles, which would be about 40 percent of global sales.
