Volkswagen continues the development of XL1 model which was believed to be the concept of Formula XL1 for limited consumption. One year ago nobody could even expect that this strange-looking vehicle may become a serial automobile. However, Volkswagen doesn't pay attention to the scepsis of most and continues to bring the concept right to an assembling line. Now we may see the spy-photos, but we still don't know the real characteristics of the hybrid.

Many suggest that it has two-cylinder TDI diesel with an electric motor, lithium-ion battery pack and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The fuel consumption has a revolutionary 0,9 liters for 100 km (!) or 235 miles per gallon. This result is achieved not because of the engine only, but aerodynamic coefficient in Cd 0.186, and weight in 1753 pounds (795 kg).

However, the extraordinary appearance doesn't correspond to the idea of the car and its performance - 75 mph as the highest speed and 32 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 50 mph. (115 km/h -top seed and 32 seconds to accelerate to 80 km/h.
