Soon we will see Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S at local dealership and I think It’s high time to speak about its capabilities. GT86 or FR-S, call it whatever you prefer, uses 4U-GSE 2.0L boxer engine from Subaru with D-4s direct-injection technology. Well, I should draw your attention that this is a principally new engine and it has nothing to do with the previous EJ205/EJ257 from Subaru used in WRX and STI. Thus there is a question appears – what about engine tunability? That’s an ultimate question the aftermarket world is dying to learn. Well, according to the manufacturers (Toyota and Subaru) the cars are aimed to those who like the autosport and thus me can suggest there will be enough custom details, accessories and performance parts which will give us a chance to give a boost to the cars.
And here is the column from importuner.com:
"Most recently, I returned from a short-term FR-S press event overseas to experience firsthand this truly amazing car. The fabled Scion concept cars and prototypes we’ve been teased with for over a year have finally emerged into budding reality with its release set to take place in the spring of 2013. During my excursion, I managed to uncover some interesting finds on the vehicle along with an opportunity to hot lap the vehicle on the Sodegaura Forest Raceway in Chiba, Japan.
As I type this column, a flurry of emails is being exchanged with the head engineer of the FR-S in preparation for an in-depth story. Forget the fluff pieces you’ve seen on random Internet sites. We’re bringing you a comprehensive story on the vehicle from a tuner’s perspective. Aftermarket wheel fitment, bolt-on turbocharger/supercharger, and upgradable OEM interior/exterior parts from Toyota are just a few items coming your way. Stay tuned!"
So, let’s stay tuned and as far as this guy posts his article I’ll inform you and will try to give you as much new info as possible.
