Swedish division of Volvo equipped 29 cars of the Netherland’s police with experimental system which helps people leave car immediately if it falls in water. The problem is not fictional – last year in the Netherlands about 750 cars drowned, causing death of 50 people and the main reason of their death was a trap made by cars themselves – people just couldn’t open doors or break windows. This is a real problem nowadays when almost all cars depend on electronic systems.

The system Volvo has represented is called REGS (Rescue Escape Guidance System) and it includes special sensor placed in doors which indicates whether car got in river, ocean or smthg or not. If a car gets into water trouble the system will break the side windows automatically giving victim of accident a way to rescue.
