"Racing improves the breed" – said once Louis Coatalen, the chief designer of Sunbeam. To support his words guys from Compass 360 Racing decided to show people what they can turn their stock car into.
There is a production-based racing which allows you to buy your future race car at a local dealership as a usual grocery-getter and turn it into everything you want. The first necessary step is to gut the car almost entirely, removing interior panels, seats, accessories and the engine. The guys from C3R followed this way and the shop floor in the video is filled with the spread of parts.
Next step is where you should decide what parts should stay in your car and what should be discarded or replaced with tuned once. A version of the Si's 2.4-liter VTEC four-cylinder tuned by Honda Performance Development engine is a good candidate for replacement. This 4-pot guy is 25% more efficient than it’s stock brother.
And when everything is replaced you have only one question – What it’s all for? "The reason Honda races is to push our cars to the limit. You can only learn so much through what you do on the street," says Niffenegger.
