Great news for teams competing in IRC and national rallies - at the Paris Motor Show Peugeot has showed the tubular-framed 208 R5 a "true competition wildcat" for asphalt and gravel stages that will go on sale toward the end of 2013.

Most of the technical specs are dictated by requirements of the S2000 class which means that 209 Type R5 will have a five-speed sequential transmission add to it all wheels drive and a long travel suspension, four-pot calipers are mounted at all four wheels, hiding behind 18-inch wheels for asphalt stages and 15-inch on gravel and you get a well-handling competition wildcat which behaves beautifully at asphalt and gravel stages.
You may say that a 1.6-liter engine is not the best choice for a rally car, but not if it’s from the 207 S2000. Yes, I’m speaking about the THP engine which outputs 280 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
The price for the car was not unveiled, but I’m sure it won’t be higher than €180,000 ($232,807 U.S.) because of the maximum allowed price.
