The list of three-wheeled vehicles available in the United States is a small but interesting one, with standout curiosities from the likes of Morgan and Ural immediately springing to mind. Of those various part-motorcycle-part-car machines, only a handful allow the occupants to lean in turns, with the Piaggio MP3 standing alone as the most recognizable example.
A company called Sway Motorsports has taken to CES in Las Vegas with a vehicle it's calling the Sway. The all-electric leaning three-wheeler will reportedly be available in three models, with top speeds varying from 35 miles per hour to 70 mph and range sitting between 20 miles with lead-acid batteries or up to 60 miles with lithium-ion units. A single 8kW electric motor on the rear wheel provides the go, and a linkage allows the rider to control the leaning motion using his or her legs and feet.
The Sway is set to go on sale, assuming everything goes to plan, in 2015, with California targeted as the first market. Pricing will start at $4,999 and go up from there, with a top-end model sitting at $10,999. Deposits of $100 are currently being accepted.
