Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, Stuttgart's first and very successful foray into hot-hatch territory, was a firey little thing from the moment it came out. It was the most powerful production hot-hatch at that moment and it was quick to regain that crown with the recent facelift.

This Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG also comes with different other modifications, such as a KW coilover suspension (add another 3,000 euros or $3,350) or 19-inch Brabus Monoblock F rims with Pirelli P Zero 235/35 R19 tires. The price for the whole set of shoes? More than the foil wrap: 4,500 euros ($5,000).

The four-cylinder two-liter AMG engine is still the most powerful engine with this displacement used in a production model, but that doesn't mean it can't deliver even more hp. 435 of them, to be more precise, up from the stock 360 hp since this is a pre-facelift model. But the PP-Performance package doesn't come cheap having a price tag of 7,117 euros (close to $8,000). It includes an ECU remap, new race filters and an upgraded sports exhaust system.

Have you been adding up? Well, we have: the whole cost of the transformation is somewhere around 18,600 euros, or nearly $21,000. Given how in Germany a new Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG costs a little over 51,000 euros ($57,000), that's actually quite reasonable. And since I'm sure they have foil wraps in any color you can think of, it all hangs on one thing: how you feel about covering your car in plastic. Or you can skip that part and save some money.
