100th birthday is not just a anniversary, it’s the most special date, and soon the British manufacturer will hit the date (in 2013). That’s why Aston Martin is aiming to build and currently working on a new remarkable car, as head of design Marek Reichmann calls it the Centenary model, which will be unveiled this summer.
In an exclusive interview to Autoexpress, CEO Dr Ulrich Bez told: “This will be an entirely new model. We have to do something remarkable to mark our centenary. It won’t be a DB9 with a Centenary Edition badge and it won’t be a limited edition like the One-77 supercar. This will be a mainstream Aston.”
Here are the spy shots of a DBS-based mule last week, and it’s believed this is the car Bez is referring to. Expect the 6.0-litre V12 to deliver 550bhp, for a four-second 0-62mph sprint time
According to the words of Dr Bez the novelty will have more radical resign “The best cars stand the test of time,” he said. “You need evolution in design, not constant change. Look at the Porsche 911.”
