The Daimler’s Smart brand can’t wait until the 2012 Paris Motor Show premier and decides that it’s better to reveal its Smart ForStars concept now. While the Smart ForVision concept was a solid indication of the next-generation ForTwo, the ForStars looks like it could be previewing a new Smart model attempting to target buyers of small crossovers.
"Sports Utility Coupe" is a definition for the new ForStars with increased ground clearance and cargo space. The FS concept has much in common with the previous concepts of ForVision and For-Us. What is striking it is the ForStars’ smiley chubby lower fascia and the “eyebrows” above the headlights. All this creates a feeling that the new Smart ForStars is a new character of famous “Cars” film.
Another distinctive feature is a bubbled roof made of transparent glass panels. This panoramic roof which allows you and your passenger to enjoy the view above you also explains the name of the car.
The two-piece body gives a creative scope for tuners – the back side can be replaced with a carbon-fiber in the future, I think.
When it comes to the interior you’d better don’t be too impressionable person. Well, may be it’s to flashy and fancy because of the concept origin and when it comes to a serial production the interior will be significantly modified.
Powering the ForStars is the same electrical components used on the Brabus Electric Drive-as well as on the For-Us Concept – but it has a stronger 60 kW motor to go with the 17.6 kWh lithium-ion battery.
So, what do we have here? The fancy flashy niche car not for all. Let’s wait for the 2012 Paris Motor Show, I’m sure there will be even more details.
