Carlisle Events has announced that after 50 years a Briggs Cunningham team reunites. One of its “steel members” was found in a warehouse in Florida. There the car had been waiting for it to happen since the mid-1970s (the last race for the car was held in 1960). The car will be reveled to public on August 24, including the full backstory on the car and identity of its new owner.
The found #1 Corvette is one of three such cars racing legend Cunningham entered at Le Mans in 1960. The other two Chevrolet racers have been discovered and restored, but the fate of #1 had been unknown since recently. When the two-door appears at Carlisle it will be shown in unrestored, "as found" condition.
