While its competitors try to add more horsepowers under hood of their cars Honda is looking for ways to reduce its fuel consumption. In order to achieve this aim Honda is about to introduce a new automatic transmission with extra gears.

Developed by ZF and used in cars of Chrysler new transmission has surprisingly compact design thanks to planetary gears in place of a traditional kind. The German transmission called 9HP may be used for AWD or FWD applications and handle up to 354 lb*ft of torque.

I think that a new gearbox will be represented in nearly future in all Honda's model line (and Acura too). This innovation is about to improve car's fuel economy as much as 10 to 16 percent.
