OSHKOSH, WIS. (April 16, 2012) – Oshkosh Airport Products Group, a division of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE: OSK), unveiled the Oshkosh® H-Series™ XF snow removal broom at the 46th International Aviation Snow Symposium in Buffalo, New York that runs through April 18.
According to the statement of Jeff Resch, Oshkosh Airport Products Group vice president and general manager, "H-Series XF broom is a natural step forward as we expand our comprehensive lineup of industry leading airport snow removal products and services. Every component of the new XF – from its heavy-duty construction, advanced broom controls, and smart design – is engineered to help airports remove snow more quickly and efficiently.”
Designed with input from snow removal experts, the new H-Series XF front mounted broom comes to market with a number of industry leading technologies to enable faster, smarter, and more reliable snow removal.
From this high-technological product we can expect the following advantages:
-Less bristle-changing time and labor costs thanks to the SIB cassette brush system developed by Oshkosh Airport Products in partnership with SIB and sold on all H-Series XF units in the U.S. The SIB system also features easier operation, less vibration, and less snow packed in the bristles compared to traditional wafer brush systems
-Available active weight transfer system which allows to keep weight on the front axle for improved performance of the chassis and broom. An optional ground speed control system adjusts the broom RPM based upon chassis speed for optimum and consistent performance.
-New level of operator control which is achieved thanks to The Oshkosh Command Zone advanced electronics system. The unit is electronically configured to meet the specific requirements of each airport. The exclusive SmartPattern system compensates for bristle wear to maintain a more consistent snow removal pattern on the runway. An in-cab, interactive display with integrated joystick control provides for an unmatched level of operator control and ease of operation.

The Oshkosh reputation for heavy-duty construction and ease of maintenance is well served on the new design. The XF broom head is powered by a dedicated Cummins QSX 11.9 liter, Tier 4i, EPA compliant engine. The chassis is powered by a dedicated Cummins ISX 12, EPA compliant engine. A simple, organized hydraulic system features clean hose routings and single point access for filter replacement make maintenance quite easy. An external broom positioning system enables safer and easier broom setup and maintenance. The electronic broom modules and components are grouped in one easily accessible location.
The Oshkosh XF broom is available in 46-inch diameter broom and 18, 20, and 22 foot lengths. Service and support is offered through the Oshkosh network of snow removal dealers.
